Why so speedy? you ask....

Usually, in a regular networking group, attendees get the opportunity to introduce themselves to the crowd.  This usually means you must have the skill to “pitch” yourself and your products and services in front of a large group with the purpose of creating enough interest so that the listeners will seek you out later and perhaps form a business alliance.  Most networking groups charge an annual membership fee and require a “non-compete” clause so that if someone in the group already has the product or service you offer, you will not be allowed to join.

With York/Adams Speed Networking, you can bypass all of those negatives.  You talk to the person across the table, one-on-one, and you get two minutes to tell them about your business in the hopes that you will be able to create a customer, a referral, or generate some ideas that will help you take your business to the next level.   Then the person that you were talking to gets his/her turn to tell you about their business. It's a very efficient give-and-take event.

In this type of environment, working one on one can be less intimidating and more efficient then speaking before a group.  Being more personal in this process helps each of us to recognize more easily whether this person is beneficial to us.  Some questions to ask yourself may be:
  • Does this person share similar ethics?
  • Is the product or service something of benefit?
  • Is it worthwhile arranging another meeting to get into more detail?
If the answer is yes to all three, than you should seek the person out and move forward.
Great way to meet people and exchange business info!
